dixon & smith was conceived by graphic designer elle dixon. that's me, so i'm not going to refer to myself in the third person any more. because that's weird.
with experience in community development, marketing and promotion, and a bachelor of creative industries, i've worked in this field for over ten years. i began designing through sheer necessity - working for not-for-profits, you save money wherever you can! i can say with confidence that i was pretty average back then, am a lot better now, and am far less terrified of the realisation that i never get to stop learning these days. same goes in reference to photography, web design, etc. we are all students of our creative endeavours, always.
i was born and raised and still live in the south west. i have a kid named oliver, who is excellent and 11. i'm a fan of colour, clean lines and creating things that make you feel things. or something like that.
i took on the challenge of dixon & smith because i instinctively draw other creatives near, especially those who are still learning how to negotiate those tricky parts of doing something you love for a job. it would have given me so much comfort to have someone watching my back, and a creative community to learn from/share with/lean on. and someone to give me a break! we ultimately aim to help launch lots of up-and-coming creatives, collaborate (in the least hipster way possible) and offer lots of workshops to inspire and excite.
so that's enough from me - i'll let the work speak for itself.
